Drink milk before bed Let whatever demons come out Do so while you’re sleeping and forget That you’re stronger than they can take You beat them in your slumber You can really stick it to them when you’re awake Taunt them to their faces You know you’re too powerful to get hurt Tempt them to come back to try again With ice cream, cheese and yogurt Drink milk before bed Fill your body up lactose Drink milk before bed You’re stronger than anybody knows
2.
Father's Day 01:24
You don’t get to disappear Just because it is convenient If the date compels me to be nice Don’t think I’m being lenient I have too many things to do For you to drag me down with you Every other day I call you And you’re just too busy to talk If I ask you to come to my rescue I’m a silhouette in chalk I have too many things to do For you to drag me down with you I’ve got so much life left to live The only good thing you ever did give me
3.
Sleep Mask 01:08
Cut down the blinds Let the sun shine Til you’re certain That you won’t awake At the time the day breaks And you’ll find A way to be blinded And reminded of the curtain But it’s for you Only you can see this dark You can’t shut the sun off Other people need the light Don’t try change the things you can’t If you’re the only one who wants to fight You can’t hate what’s far away If you can’t see beyond it Be your own shade If you’re the one who wants it
4.
(I only like you on long drives) I only like you on long drives Two-to-six hour shifts by my side I try to make you sweet but you’re not I try to cool you down when you’re hot But I couldn’t wake up next to you I like you for your functionality You punk me into punctuality Try to get me up on time You’re unavoidable like the rhyme But I couldn’t wake up next to you No I couldn’t wake up next to you
5.
Called Out 01:02
You sounded so sick on the phone They didn’t wanna call you out when you did You lie sometimes but it’s alright I wanna spend the day with my baby and my kid Yeah you lie sometimes but it’s alright Yeah you lie sometimes but it’s for me so I don’t mind Yeah you lie sometimes but it’s okay Yeah you lie sometimes but I look so good I see why you’d wanna stay
6.
Freckle 01:01
Freckle (You sure? Okay) Felt like a freckle ‘Cause I spotted your pretty face I’m love sick and you’re killing me We both wanted to catch a case I’m all innuendo But you’re blind to the pain Catch me flinching or passing out Either way I’m feeling faint And I don’t know how to really feel about you But with this much clever wordplay Baby it must be true And I don’t know you really feel about me (Uh…oh, I got it) Tonight (Nailed it)
7.
You know You can try to make it work With someone who sucks But it’s not your fault If they keep on sucking You can try and reverse Back up and beep ’til it hurts But if it gets worse You just gotta keep on trucking If you can’t make it work With someone who sucks That doesn’t mean that you suck If you can’t make it work With someone who sucks Doesn’t mean that you suck It’s just proof that they suck Does that make sense?
8.
Tuna 01:22
I don’t even know if you can hear me The handle on your front door needs untightening Your cries echo through the whole house And I never let the law stop me doing the right thing But the dangers of using Lose it all when the lights went They left it vacant but for you And you got caught up in my net Didn’t have a home But I made one You and me, Tuna, tonight You and I, Tuna Why try? I’m the new guy You and me, Tuna, you’re mine Keep you by my side Like a .35 Why not give it a try? You and I, Tuna Supply my time You’re a light in my life

about

In 2019, I decided to write a song for my friend Dan based off of a suggestion given to him by my friend Alex. That suggestion was to have a glass of milk before going to sleep. I thought, "that's an interesting idea" and wrote a little 60 second song about it.

I really liked holding myself to that short time constraint and started writing some other ~60 second songs based on random suggestions from other friends, or wild inspiration. I knew I would eventually turn this into a project and...as it turns out, this is that!

As always I must give credit to those who inspired the songs, in track order:

So of course, thank you to Alex and Dan. Thank you Jenn and Morgan and Megan and Leah and many others. Thank you Wyatt, I think? Thank you Shahirah. Thank you Cosima, Gabriel, and Nugget. Thank you Jac, but also Jason Mraz and Train, I guess. Thank you Opal (but no thank you to the person who the song is actually about). Thank you Jeff and Tuna (RIP). Thank you Neil, but of course, Bob Dylan and William Carlos Williams as well.
